Immerse in BEP360
This is the kind of thing that I can talk about, but you have to see to believe. Last week Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas launched Will.I.Apps, a digital media company rolling out the first of many cutting edge iPod and iPad apps.
Just released is “The Time” (that beat you can’t get out of your head – the revisioned finale from 1987’s Dirty Dancing “[I’ve had] The time of my life”) The song in itself, is one of my favorites and inspires me to no end. The original brings back so many memories for me and I can’t help but get up and dance every time I hear it.
What takes the song above and beyond, is the 3D360 technology music video that has been dubbed BEP360. Will.I. Apps and the BEP360 app “have been established to help artists tap into the potential of our hyper-connected mobile world and bring fans deeper inside the music far beyond a four minute audio recording. It’s a unique and completely new way to experience a 360-degree music immersion that will bring artists and fans closer together.” – Will.I.Am stated.
Using a mini Ferris wheel like contraption of digital cameras, the music video was literally captured from 360 degrees granting the effect that you are in the party with the Peas. Aim your iOS at the ceiling, you see the ceiling of the party, explore the party by turning 360 degrees around the room you are standing in now while peering through the teleporting like device also known as your iPhone.
On top of that, the app includes augmented reality cartoons of the Peas characters when you point your screen at their new album cover “The Beginning”, direct your own virtual photo session of the Peas and see the behind the lens as if you were there in 360 degrees, looking at the photographer and set along with some other interactive goodies.
I check out the vid, it will inspire you to see how far technology has come – yes we have seen it in google earth – but never quite this way. Check it out
